Struggling ex-Newcastle United star Gazza has been given a glimmer of hope from his former club, according to reports
It has been reported that bosses at Newcastle have said Paul Gascoigne could be in with a chance of a coaching role if he stays sober in the long term.
A club insider is believed to have said: "He will always be a legend at this club. If he can stay on the wagon for around six months, the powers-that- be may find him a job here.
The 45-year-old, originally from Gateshead, was recently admitted to a rehab clinic in America in an attempt to beat his demons and he has since said he had "never been so close to dying".
A spokesman for Newcastle United said that the possibility of Gazza returning to the club in a coaching capacity is just a theory at this stage and has not yet been formally discussed.
