Renowned NFL Broadcaster Jim Summerall Dies

One of many good voices in NFL history passed on Tuesday, as Pat Summerall has died. He was 82. Summerall handed in his hospital room at Zale Lipshy Hospital where he was dealing with surgery for a broken hip, a family friend established. The former CBS announcer worked a record 16 Super Bowls in a system career that ended in 2002 and started in 1962. In the 21 seasons Summerall worked along side John Madden they grew in to Americaas most widely used activities broadcast group. Their work for CBS at Super XVI, after the 1981 season, remains the highest-rated sports program of all-time, with more than 49 percent of the country tuned in. aI was so happy I acquired to work with Pat,a Madden said. aHe was really easy to work with. He knew just how to use words. For a guy like myself who rambles on and on and doesnat always make sense, he was sent from heaven.a Madden was the very first broadcaster Fox used when it outbid CBS for NFL rights beginning in 1994. He insisted that Summerall function as second.
