Champions League: Arsenal's Jack Wilshere Set to Miss Bayern Munich Clash

First there is Franck. Now it is Jack. Jack Wilshere may be the latest major title included with the listing of people who'll just take no part in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 2nd leg between Bayern Munich and Arsenal on Wednesday night. The match is planned for 3:45 p.m. ET at Allianz Arena, with Bayern holding a 3-1 benefit following the first leg three days before in London. Wilshere, a 21-year-old England international midfielder, will miss out the match with an inflamed ankle, director Arsene Wenger has established. He'll miss three weeks, meaning he'll also be inaccessible for England's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro. Wenger mentioned (per The Guardian ): I really could see within the last few couple of games he'd started initially to dig deep. He's played 30 games. For us it's not pleasant but probably for him it's not bad that he has a little rest. It's more about prevention. The specialist decided he needed it. He has some bone bruising. The final time it deteriorated into a stress fracture. That's what we do not wish to happen. Wilshere's damage is not only bad news for Arsenal on Wednesday. As a long-term worry It could also serve. Wilshere came back to the initial team in October after missing more than a year with an problems for his other foot. Abou Diaby is back in Arsenal's group for the Bayern Munich fit on Wednesday.Jan Kruger/Getty Pictures Wenger added: "We trust people that are experts of this type. He was out for 17 weeks and we had to deal with it; we should be able to deal with it for several games." Defender Bacary Sagna can be unavailable for Arsenal against Bayern. The German leaders can perform without powerful midfielders Franck Ribery (injury) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (suspension). Kieran Gibbs and Abou Diaby are in Arsenal's squad. Without Wilshere, Arsenal's already difficult task will undoubtedly be a lot more difficult. An influential role have been played by the English midfielder with the group since his get back from injury. Bayern, meanwhile, have allowed only seven objectives at home in the Bundesliga in 2010. "We have been great defensively," said Bayern defender Philipp Lahm (via @henrywinter). "We have vibrant people upfront. It'll be very hard for Arsenal."
