At first glance it appeared as if Orb was the runaway success at the 2013 Kentucky Derby. But, according to Dan Shapiro, marketing manager at William Hill US, a woman from Hawaii might have had the best day of anyone at Churchill Downs on Saturday. The woman, who apparently was placing bets on horse racing for the very first time in her life, won over $20,000 in somewhat unconventional manner. She located 120 split up $1 bets, appropriately forecasting not merely Orb, but also the rest of the top-four finishers. She struck the superfecta, which based on Shapiro, gives out to $28,500 before tax.
